August 1, 2009 (Issue #1) – What do you spin? I spin house. I try to keep it varied, but I know I usually sound pretty jazzy and funky. But yeah, I’m a house girl ;)
How and why did you start spinning? I started when I was 17. I saw Kid Data spinning at his house and thought “Hey, I think I can do that too!” So I asked him to show me what spinning was all about, and have been a part of it ever since. Spinning is just one of those things that is so fun, I love it!
Where do you spin? Well, as of recently I’ve played at Chic’s, Hush Saturdays and Gravity. That’s about it.
Are you under any labels? No, not under any labels.
Any companies? Thump Lab!
Do you spin vinyl or CD’s? I am a vinyl DJ. I don’t know. There’s something about pulling a vinyl disc out of its sleeve when you just barely get it, and then trying it out for the first time… It’s something that is addicting, I believe.
What are your goals? I hope that I can inspire more female DJs to come out of the wood work and show everyone what they’ve got! We need more lady DJs. So come on ladies! Let’s unite!
Do you have a website or Myspace? No I don’t… I seriously need to catch up with the times and just get along with technology…
What has been your best and worst show and for what reason? I remember a long time ago I played at the Blue Agave. I train wrecked almost every mix. It was horrible! That one was bad because my head wasn’t there. My best show was at Gravity on the ninth of July. It was actually a weird day, but I just let it all go in my set, and I got a good reception from it.
Favorite DJ/Producer? Right now I’m digging 1200 Warriors and stuff from Spatula City. I actually listen to more drum n bass than house and I’m really addicted to Marcus Intalex right now.
Best party ever attended and why (not counting events you have spun at)? I remember a loooong time ago I attended a Femme Fatale party with all female DJs. I thought, “This is insane”, and I had so much fun there. That one always stands out to me. Go Back…
