October 19, 2009 (Issue #2) – As we are all aware the international phenomenon that is Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a. Deadmau5, made his appearance in the Sun City on Saturday, September 4th at Club 101. The party, however, began pool-side style at the Vista Hills Country Club where the E.P. fan-base enjoyed an excellent outdoors pre-party.
The sun was blazin’ and the music was loud. The place was filled with fans that either couldn’t get tickets for the party or like Deadmau5 so much they needed to be at the pre-party as well as the show. Whatever the case (or the attendees’ level of fanaticism), the turn-out was considerable…and FUN!!
The Canadian DJ/Producer is currently on the “For Lack of a Better Name” Tour and having been such a success on his last visit to El Paso last , returned. People sang along his well-known songs and danced for hours under the sun. The whole concept of a broad-day-light-show by such a renowned DJ and people in bathing suits showing off the goods ( and not-so-goods! Ha!) was just exciting!!
The weather was perfect, the bikinis, the girls, the drinks, the boys, the sounds, the vibe all combined in an explosion of that Deadmau5 stench that seems to follow Zimmerman across the globe. I mean, it’s no secret that Deadmau5 is loved by many everywhere, but to see the actual coming together of the whole hype with party-ers and all, was quite something for even someone that went “just to check it out.”
Many of the attendees made their way out at or a little before 8 P.M. to either after-parties, if you weren’t lucky to get a ticket (or partied too much, too early! ☺) or to go get ready for the much-anticipated show at 101 later. Drenched in sun, music and possibly a little beer, El Paso enjoyed Deadmau5: Pool-Side style!!
