October 19, 2009 (Issue #2) – To some, this event to be was nothing more than just another one of the great shows to take place at Club 101. To others it was an awakening exhibition of excitement and inspiration to help welcome to the Sun City, one of Trances most well known and respected DJs. Markus Schulz.
The night was almost inexplicably amazing with dazzling lasers and hypnotic beats making everyone progress into one and dance in unison with the evenings astonishing lineup. The atmosphere of this tremendous event was simply mind-blowing. It was a reminder that people who enjoy any genre can be as one and fly with the rest to recreate the peaceful ambience that was at Markus Schulz.
As a child, Markus lived in Germany where he first began to hear this new sound we all refer to as EDM today. He was amazed. His parents soon migrated to the USA where Markus, then only 13, became more and more in love with this new vibe. Before no time he was helping organize Breaks parties where he began learning to spin and dedicate himself to what he knew would be his lifes work. Where ever he went he dominated the decks. As a Trophy to his determination he takes his current place at number 8 in the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 DJ poll of 2008 . A position his ambition hopes to rise in 2009. He has gone up to set up a stellar name for himself with labels to back him like Armada and Ultra Records. Recently Schulz has established ColdHarbour Recordings, a Sublabel to Armada Music that has delivered over 60 A-list releases in a matter of 3 years. It is all of this hard work and soulful dedication to this music that has made Markus Schulz a World renowned DJ along with Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox and John Digweed to name a few.
This party delivered you into delirium from start to finish with DJ Xeno9 warming the decks with his eccentric yet skilled set keeping the crowd progressing more and more into his Trance sets known to put you into no less than a blissful state of sublime. Breathtaking vibes paved a remarkable opening for DJ Sebern’s fine opening taking the minds of many onto another level . Of course I cant begin to even illustrate how upbeat and happy this crowd was. Seberns chilling vocals resonated through out the crowd to evoke everyones enthusiastic excitement to experience Markus Schulz first hand.
Synchronized beats fell into proportion while Markus made his way onto the stage. He flashed everyone a love sign and everyone did the same, showing the love for him and his music. It set the tone for what was to be an unforgettable night. It was as if hed put his finger on what our scene is all about . LOVE. We were all there as ONE to see this legendary DJ spin for the love of the music. As he was clapping to the end of Seberns last song, he intricately introduced the song that would put everyone on cloud 9. He started his set with Barnes & Heatcliff’s Remix of “Forget About Us” by Lentos. Synthtetic beats chimed in and out of everyones ears as the crowd swifted perpetually in all directions. Lasers and Stunning visuals created a serene depiction of what the Sun City has become. It showed the scene that we’ve come to love. It elucidated the unity we have all created to make us into one.
