October 19, 2009 (Issue #2) – 1. What do you spin?

2. How and why did you start spinning?
I got into Djing at a very early age when I saw the video of “Rock it” by Herbie Hancock (like many DJs) and even though I was like 7, just thought it was brilliant to see a guy with turntables. Then a good friend of my in my home country of Colombia got me into mixing when I was 12.
3. Where do you spin?
No where in particular. How ever, I do hold a privileged spot on http://www.mixapolis.com which features mostly house. I spin when ever I want to and we schedule the shows twice a month; soon I will have a set schedule. This is online and I broad cast from my house.
4. Are you under any labels?
Currently no but since I been teaming up with CJ Tari as Border Syndicate, I been working on tracks that I hope to have on label soon.
5. Any companies?
No, I am on my own.
6. Do you spin vinyl or CD’s?
Vinyl! I can spin CD’s and is fun but I own turntables and Serato. I prefer that format but CD’s are great too.
7. What are your goals?
Honestly to travel out side of the country to represent the area. To have some releases on a label and integrate as many DJs as possible in terms of events and shows, be it a house party or a major event.

9. What has been your best and worst show and for what reason?Best Show: Unity 1994, under the Piedras bridge. I had been mixing for 2 years now and it taught me a lot, especially how to really program a set.
Worst Show: One out in the desert, by Shadow mountain lake. Shawn Parker spun. It wasn’t the event in it self, but the circumstances. Bad weather, wind, bugs flying into the needles, dust on my vinyl, friends were mad (lol) and so forth. But is hard to say a show is bad, is more important to remember the GOOD of it all even if is just a little.
10. Favorite DJ/Producer?
I have many many since I spin all kinds of stuff but Joey Youngman is to me the best.
11. Best party ever attended and why (not counting events you have spun at)?
Best party, geee so many. Perhaps the best is Spundae in LA. Richie Hawtin headlined. I saw old friends of mine like DeepSky and Shawn Parker and met big names. El Paso and Las Cruces also had good events of course.
