March 3, 2010 (Issue #4) – Bucci vs. Metrika
words by Jess Rox!!
El Paso has gotten the opportunity to experience Pastilla Digital in our very own city since December and so far, Pier Bucci vs. Metrika has probably been the best event yet. Manhattan Club was full to its UTMOST on January 16, 2010. The two played at Hardpop the night before and headed to EP the following night.
Mexican DJ Metrika and Chilean-born DJ/Producer Pier Bucci played hour-long sets that were very chill and very within each other’s element and culminated in an AWESOME back to back for the remainder or the evening. The attendees got more than their money’s worth with these two.
Besides the fact that they both got down, however, one perk was the fact that they had played Juarez the night before. They both got the opportunity to check out both scenes so I got a chance to pick their brains as far as the differences between the two. Metrika had a more positive perspective but both were great about answering my questions in these interviews that we are proud to bring to you…
Jess: Have you played together before?
Metrika: “We played in Mexico, in Monterrey and some gigs in New York.”
Jess: You have lots of fans here as you can see. What do you wanna say to your fans?
Metrika: “Keep on dancin’ and keep on feelin the music!”
Mr. Bucci had a different take on it….
Jess Rox!!: You played in Juarez last night. What’s the biggest difference between the scenes?
Bucci: “The ages. It’s full of young people here. I liked Harpop more…it’s the best place to play in Mexico.”
Jess: Ok. You’ve heard of what’s happening in Juarez and that’s why the party has moved here.
The opening act was just as surprising as the rest of the night with Vinn-E PD changing his style up from his usual breaks to a more housy set. Very Nice! I asked at the peak of the party what he thought about it, “On a scale from 1-10, it’s an 11!!” (Laughs)
I also asked what he thinks about ECB covering the party and he replied:
“It’s the shit!! Thanks for the scene support!!”
Go Back…
