March 3, 2010 (Issue #4) – El Paso’s FIRST M_nus Party!!

SMG events has been responsible for a constant stream of good parties in El Paso for a little over a year now at their Friday Night Noise weekly. We’ve seen some very mainstream acts as well as some more underground ones. This time around, they are to thank for our FIRST M_nus party, which couldn’t have been better.
There was a very obvious difference in the music and of course a difference in the reception from the audience. The crowd was exposed to a more mature, more minimal and dark sound that they might not be too familiar with being that the younger crowd of El Paso seems to be more into the electro vibe. However, for those more mature ears, it was a pleasure.
Heartthrob, the pin-up boy of the label, is not only a pleasure to listen to but also very appealing to the eye. Troy Pierce was just as good despite some minor mistakes which very few noticed. Mr. Pierce also happened to be celebrating his birthday in our very own Club 101. Great Birthday set!!
The peak of the night came after 2 A.M when the two laid down their best tracks in what can possibly be the best B2B set I’ve heard. The two were vibeing intensely with each other and delivered to the fullest. The majority of the attendees came and went before 2 but for true fans of minimal, 2-3 was a dream come true!!
The new addition to the club, was a success, whether it was only for this party or they are here to stay, those huge white spheres hanging from the ceiling were dope! The stage, lighting and visuals were all up to par with the magnitude of this party. A great experience for the party-goers.
It is rumored that the reason why SMG decided to bring these two together was because a friend, lover of M_nus and one of the “usual” within the scene requested them for her birthday celebration and if this was in fact the case, thank you Kuki!! Hope you had a great birthday because we all sure did have a great time. Thanks again to SMG Events for our first M_nus party and we can only hope for more to come!!
